Happy Saturday, 315. This is a milestone weekend across the region. The Syracuse Jazz Fest turns 40 and moves to a new home, with free shows at Beak & Skiff Apple Orchards headlined by Trombone Shorty and Tower of Power. Over in Utica, it's Boilermaker weekend: 15,000 runners hit the streets Sunday, the Munson Arts Festival opens its nine-day run Saturday, and the Boilerfaker offers a 1.1 mile "less than a race" stroll down Genesee Street for the rest of us on Friday evening.

The festivals don't stop there. The first-ever CNY Book Crawl sends readers on a ten-day passport tour of 19 indie bookstores across five counties. Cazenovia's lavender fields hit peak bloom for the Farmstead 1868 Lavender Festival, Oswego celebrates Pride at Breitbeck Park on Saturday, and Skaneateles rolls out its Curbstone Festival sidewalk sales. Geneva marks America's 250th with a Fireman's Parade and fireworks over Seneca Lake on Saturday night.

The North Country brings the character this week. Hammond hosts its annual Scottish Festival on Saturday, complete with caber toss, Highland games, and a 5K where kilts are required. DeKalb throws itself a 250th birthday party at Pipeline Park, Potsdam Summer Fest fills the village through Saturday with music on two stages and fireworks over Ives Park, and Massena's Nicandri Nature Center hosts a free reptile and amphibian show on Sunday.

For the quieter moments: the Erie Canal Museum's Women on the Water walking tour traces the suffrage movement through downtown Syracuse on Friday morning, Rome's Water Music New York festival closes with an Albany Symphony concert and a drone show over Bellamy Harbor Park, and Fulton offers a free candle decorating workshop at Amethyst Reiki. This week's Foodie Corner heads to Fay Road on Syracuse's west side for The Cider Mill, a family-run scratch kitchen inside a historic cider mill. More on that below.
