Happy Friday, 315. The country turns 250 this week, and the 315 is marking it the way it marks everything: loudly, locally, and with a lot of fireworks. Gouverneur calls its Thursday show the largest in the North Country. Fair Haven runs its mile-long parade through the village on Thursday night, a Fourth of July tradition older than most of us. Skaneateles throws an open house at the community center before the fireworks over Austin Park. Phoenix lights up the sky at the Bridge House on Friday. Wherever you are this week, the sky is going to be busy.

The music slate keeps pace. Stone Temple Pilots play the Lakeview Amphitheatre on Tuesday. Lotus Land brings a note-for-note Rush tribute to the Turning Stone Showroom on Saturday, and Live Dead and Brothers fold the Grateful Dead and the Allman Brothers into one show at the Smith Opera House in Geneva on Thursday. Closer to the ground, the Pietra Group plays original jazz at CNY Jazz Central on Friday, the Syracuse Orchestra gives a free patriotic concert at Wehrum Stadium in Herkimer on Wednesday, and Dino BBQ keeps its Saturday live music night going with Jonah Ladd and the Sunset Band.

Up in the North Country, Potsdam goes back in time. Living History Days brings Revolutionary War reenactors to Ives Park all weekend, with soldiers' camps, demonstrations, and history talks marking the 250th. The same town offers a quieter counterweight: a sound bath at the Melting Pot on Friday, and cello with singing bowls and tea at One Steep at a Time on Sunday. The North Country knows how to swing from cannon fire to deep rest in 48 hours.

Pride is still very much part of June. Cazenovia holds its biggest Pride festival yet at Lorenzo on Saturday, parade first, then the lawn until evening. Munson closes out the month in Utica with a late-night drag show, and the Smith in Geneva throws an all-eras Pride dance party the same night. Quieter picks if you want them: a journaling afternoon at Tramontane Cafe in Utica, a mushroom-plushie crochet class in Watertown, and tarot readings over a beer at Copper City Brewing in Rome. This week's Foodie Corner heads north to Market Street in Potsdam for Royal India Grill, a family-run spot that may be the best Indian food between Syracuse and the border. More on that below.
