Hi {{ first name | reader }},

Happy Friday, 315. Spring is in full bloom and the region is answering with a stacked week of events. The performing arts scene alone could fill your calendar: La Traviata opens Saturday at Clinton Square in Syracuse, CNY Ballet presents Depth and Desire at the Everson Museum, and the Syracuse Orchestra celebrates the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence with Let Freedom Ring. In the Finger Lakes, the Smith Center for the Arts screens Napoleon Dynamite on Saturday night, and over in Oswego County, SUNY Oswego's All Shook Up, the Elvis-catalogue musical, continues its run.

Mystery dinners are everywhere this week. The Dinner Detective brings its award-winning true crime murder mystery to Mohegan Manor in Baldwinsville on Saturday. Oswego County gets a Murder Mystery at the Disco at AOH Hibernians to benefit Friends of Hospice. And in the North Country, the Grasse River Players present a murder mystery dinner at the County Seat in Canton to benefit the Canton Yoga Loft. If you'd rather watch someone else solve the case, Prison City Pub in Auburn has mentalist Dustin Dean reading minds on Saturday.

Earth Day lands on Wednesday this week, and the 315 is marking it. Beaver Lake Nature Center in Baldwinsville hosts a Trash to Treasure upcycling workshop where you'll turn thrifted teacups into rain chains and bird feeders. Canal Clean Sweep volunteers are needed at both Bellamy Harbor Park in Rome and the Old Erie Canal Heritage Park in Port Byron. And if your version of Earth Day is more about being outdoors than cleaning up, Beaver Lake's BioBlitz runs all weekend with naturalists documenting as many species as possible.

The music and food scene keeps it interesting. Grammy and Emmy-nominated jazz artist Marko Marcinko plays The Other Side in Utica on Friday. Seattle Sons Unplugged bring acoustic rock to Copper City Brewing in Rome on Saturday. Colloca Estate Winery in Sterling runs a free-admission Blues and BBQ concert from 2 to 10pm. And Sugarbeets in Rome hosts a five-course Whiskey Pairing Dinner on Monday, with each course paired with New York whiskeys. SUNY Oswego rounds out the week with Hot Pepper Shakespeare on Thursday, where participants recite Shakespeare monologues immediately after eating a hot pepper. This week's Foodie Corner heads east to Wampsville for Madison Bistro, a farm-to-table spot featured on America's Best Restaurants. More on that below.

MEET OUR NEXT FOUNDING PARTNER

Reflections Management & Care

When Micron's investment brings thousands of new professionals to Central New York, it won't just be young workers looking for apartments and restaurants. Many of them will have aging parents back home, or parents who follow them here. The question of "who takes care of Mom" doesn't disappear because you relocate. It gets harder. That's the problem Reflections Management and Care solves, and it's why Lindsay Kratzer is our newest Founding Partner.

Reflections is a care management company based in Baldwinsville that advocates for seniors and their families across the Syracuse area. They handle the full spectrum: care management, geriatric assessments, medication management, relocation and transition planning, financial management, recreation programs, and a Home Care Registry that connects families with vetted caregivers. The team includes care managers, an RN, a recreation specialist, and certified dementia care professionals. They serve families in Syracuse, Liverpool, Baldwinsville, Fayetteville, Manlius, Camillus, DeWitt, and surrounding communities. When a family is navigating a crisis (a fall, a hospitalization, a sudden decline), Reflections is the call they make.

Lindsay Kratzer founded the company with over two decades of experience in senior care. She holds an MS in Psychology with a specialization in Counseling and a Certificate in Gerontology. She's a Certified Dementia Practitioner, Certified Montessori Dementia Care Professional, and Certified Dementia Support Group Facilitator. She serves as a Unit Leader for the Aging Life Care Association, sits on their New York Board of Education, and contributes to their National Conference Planning Committee. She founded the Central New York chapter of the Case Management Society of America. In March 2026, WSYR named her a "Remarkable Woman" for her work in the community.

What I find most compelling about Lindsay is that she didn't stop at building her business. She saw a gap and filled it with the Reflections Memory Café, a monthly nonprofit gathering that gives individuals with memory loss and their caregivers a judgment-free space to connect. That kind of thinking (find a need, build something, show up every month) is exactly what 315NY is built around. It's why this partnership fits.

Madison Bistro - Wampsville

Madison Bistro - Wampsville

Madison Bistro sits at 135 North Court Street in Wampsville, a quiet spot in Madison County that you'd drive right past if you didn't know it was there. That would be a mistake. This is a farm-to-table restaurant that's been doing the work since 2012, sourcing meat, produce, and ingredients from local farms and backing it up with a menu that takes familiar comfort food and makes it worth the drive.

Owner Victor Ramirez has been in the restaurant industry his entire career, starting as a teenager bussing tables at a German restaurant. His Texas roots show up in the food. The Cowboy Burger, a nod to those roots, comes loaded with balsamic, bacon, onion jam, and crunchy potato straws. The Texan is topped with slabs of house-smoked brisket. And then there's the Elvis Burger, a bacon cheeseburger with fried red onion straws and a spoonful of peanut butter that started as a joke and ended up placing in the top four "Best Burger" in 2018. Ramirez says you can tell every one is made by hand. The restaurant was featured on America's Best Restaurants, which highlighted the burgers and steaks alongside an interview about the bistro's place in the community.

Beyond the burgers, the menu runs deep. The Cuban sandwich, the Dagwood, and the haddock sandwich all get regular praise. The mac and cheese is consistently described as the best around, creamy and homestyle. The seafood chowder is a meal in itself. Friday night fish is a local tradition. The pork belly, when it's on the specials board, is the kind of dish reviewers call the best meal they've ever eaten. Everything from the bread to the chips to the fries is made in-house. The bistro also carries a curated selection of local New York wines, hard ciders, and craft beers from producers like Critz Farms, Good Nature, Merritt Winery, and Owera Winery.

The space has a country charm to it, quiet and casual with friendly, fast service. Reviewers consistently call it a hidden gem, the kind of place people drive 25 or 30 minutes to reach and feel like they discovered something. It's ranked #1 of 2 restaurants in Wampsville on TripAdvisor with a 4.7 rating, holds a 96% recommendation rate on Facebook with over 527 reviews, and carries a 95 out of 100 health score on Yelp. Open Monday through Saturday. Closed Sundays.
